Tee in the Way*

Nell is based on the play Idioglossia, a Greek term meaning a personal or private language. Though it is a 1994 film, I didn't get bored. As I have mentioned in the previous posts, I love film viewing.

"Mrs. Doubtfire" is the oldest film I have watched. It was produced in 1993. So "Nell" is the second oldest in the record. I have noticed that U.S. already produced good quality films like these even in the 90's. They are good.

I have come to know this movie because of symbolic interactionism, our next topic in Theories of Communication subject. I quite understood it. It's just that there are some confusions since it was self studied. Well, we'll have a thorough discussion about it this coming Monday. I get the point. But somehow, the idea goes round and round.

Even though I already know what the movie is all about, I still watched it closely because there will certainly be something that will surprise me... and there ARE.

Of course, thinking what happens when something out of the normal turns out, everyone's attention gather to that something. That happened in the movie because imagine, there is this girl who speaks a language that only she understands. Jodie Foster played her role very well. And the well known action star Liam Neeson played a romantic role here as Jerry Lovell, who patiently studied how to communicate to Nell and was successful. He was sweet and kind and thoughtful of his "partner" (played by Natasha Richardson as Paula Olsen). I can't believe it at first. But as the movie went on, I laughed very often.

I like this scene when Liam and his lawyer blocked Natasha and her police force when they were about to pick-up Nell to put her on a hospital. It was very funny. Another scene was when they were watching Nell swim. Their conversation made me laugh.

In the end, "Jerry and Paula got married and had a daughter. The sheriff's wife, who was depressed from the beginning of the film, was no longer depressed and she attributes her transformation to Nell. Despite the fact that has been thrust into a wider world of lawyers, reporters, and salesclerks who label her behavior deviant and insist she conform to societal roles, she seems strangely unaffected by their judgment or expectations. The character Jodie Foster plays radiates an inner peace and contentment."

"You have big things. You know big things. But you don't look into each other's eyes. And you're hungry for quietness. I've lived a small life. I know small things and know left ones. I know everyone goes. Everyone goes away. Don't be frightened for now. Don't wait for her. I have no greater sorrows than you."

Another B.C.* (Again)

This time, Bradley Cooper plays a role of a Psychologist, if I'm not mistaken. It is because he talks to children who have been abused by their parents or who are in trouble.

In our country, "Kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan." Sa ibang bansa, youth cause the troubles. Haha! I'm just kidding. XD

This creepy movie says that not everyone we save is who we think they are. But take note, this is just a fiction.

So, what are you afraid of?

Smile

It's hard being alone. Believe me. I experienced it. But I won't ever let it control me and let what happened to Sy Parish happen to me, most especially now that I am not alone anymore.

Robin Williams took a new way from adventure and comedy to thriller. He's a very good actor. He can portray each character as if it's real. And most of his movies that I have watched centered on families and he always bring out the emotion necessary for each scenes.

In this 2002 movie, he plays Sy Parish, a man who works at a photo center. He lives alone at home so he seeks attention at work from his customers, mostly from this particular family that had always been printing their photos from where he works. He had watched the family through those photos until he became obsessed with them. I don't know what else to say. That's the plot of the film.

People say that "we pose the way we want to be remembered, but it's better if it's a stolen shot because they will see the real us." It is true, but not at all times. Yes, I've encountered someone who seems happy with us, but ended our friendship in a somewhat tragic type (but I miss that person), but still, the friends I have have a strong bond and though "it's not forever that we'll always be together, our memories together will remain forever."

"Shutters clicked, flash goes off, and you've stopped time, in just a blink of an eye. And if these pictures have anything important to say to the future generations, it's this:

I was here.

I existed.

I was young,

 I was happy

and someone cared enough about me in this world

 to take my picture."

---------------------------------------------------------
MelManRene & Friends - I still remember the house we've been planning. Will it still come true? Haha! I miss all of you. No matter how far we are from each other, you'll always remain in my mind and heart. You made me feel what it is to be loved, something I didn't have (somehow) when I was younger and until now, you still make me feel loved. I love you all. Always take care. God bless everyone. :D

Journ Friends (M.A.F.F.E.R. ft. DJ) - I'm proud of all of you. Only a few takes journalism nowadays. You relive its essence even though you are becoming smaller in number. Always remember, though I am a broadcast major, I'll be here if you need me. Sometimes, I also want to join your classes. I want to learn more and become aware of the journ stuff since I had been one once. Be careful! Don't become victims like in the massacre. Please, I beg of you. Always take care. God bless.

A-_02 - You welcomed me, all of you: the original and now. I appreciate it very much. Even in the first day when you didn't know me at all and well, you all still believed in me. You don't know how happy you made me. We had many experiences and many more will still come. I hope we'll always stay together. Let's always help each other. Take care. God bless. :D

I Still Remember...

It's like just sometime ago that I was a first year college student. Now, I am in my second year and I have reached this far. Last week, A.Y. 2011-2012 opened for the first semester and I still remember the professors who I encountered in the previous year and their admirable characteristics.

During first semester, there was Ma'am Narlyne Nicdao with her professional approach. In all the discussions we had, she never held a book or paper and everything there is to say is all in her head. She is well organized too.

There's also Ma'am Josephine Galicha who puts weight on self-discipline, which she defined as "doing the right thing at the right time on the right place to the right people in the right way." Amazing! She is an example herself for she follows her schedule and like Ma'am Nicdao, she acts professionally. Furthermore, there will always be an activity after each discussion to check whether we have learned something. The class experienced fun, though at times, we were scolded.

Another professor is Sir Pastor Arguelles Jr. He's friendly, sometimes to an extent when some students take advantage of him. He's knowledgeable about computers. Whenever we have class, I felt like he was there in front discussing like in a conference. What? We were in a computer lab. He was also professional since he's working in a company. I also want to add, he taught a deeper understanding about the guidelines when making powerpoint presentations.

Last but not the least is my former adviser, Ma'am Violeta Mendoza. The thing that I remember the most is  the moment that we had our make-up class in an AVR. Only few came. Our topic? I can't remember. What I remember is what she said when we we're solving a problem. It may not be exact, but it goes like this, "This is the application of Math in real life. There are lots of problems which you think there has no solution. There is. You just have to find it."

On the second semester, the most challenging of all was Sir David Nye. It may not be the first time, but I failed... but it was so low (in Prelims). If you deduct another one point, oh boy, I'm so dead already. His standards are really high. But I learned my lesson: don't give up and learn your lesson from your mistakes. Even so, he's still kind of approachable because he answered every question I had regarding the subject matter and gave solutions to resolve some problems. That made me end the semester with him with a passing mark. I just lost my scholarship. :(

On the contrary, we have Sir Francis Tagabuan. He maybe strict, but he doesn't enjoy failing students. Well, we are sort of "magkabarkada." (Aww, I miss my journ friends.) He is very good. Though he misses (a lot?) of classes because of work at GMA, we had fun creating short films and documentaries. During discussions, he made the class lively with his funny jokes. He knows his field very well. We also got a chance to work on an audition for their program entitled "Kitchen Superstar."

We'll never forget Sir James Dean Oblena, our clown professor. You have the right to remain silent because everything you say will be used against you... for a joke and laugh. Haha! :D He's cool, easy to be with, knows his field very well. He will just teach you what you have to know and learn the rest with application. It's real fun because you discover and explore with your friends. Sir will just grade your performance, on how well you applied the concept he taught. He also said, "Anyone can take pictures. That is why you are taking this class, to learn how to take photos in different views and angles."

Ma'am Trina Marie Dusaban will not be left behind, the all-around professor (in my opinion). She teaches Mass Comm students, MMA, and as well as Psychology students. She knows a lot. And she taught students how to professionally prepare and deliver powerpoint presentations, which I can say Sir Arguelles helped a lot. Our group's presentation weren't criticized so much. But still, it was criticized.

Last but not the least, presenting: Sir Bayani Balba. I like the way he teaches. He is unique in his style. I like his idea of molding and improving capabilities step by step, not right away. I am referring to journal writing. Back in high school, we had this every Friday (additional information). When I heard the system of the other sections from a friend, I can't help myself but compare (even though it's not quite right.) I thought, wow, I am blessed to have my professors. The other sections have to write on their journals everyday. In reality, it's hard for me because I can't keep mine up to date. Sir Balba's style was in every occasion or sometimes only, which I thought I will also do if I were a professor. And then, one day, in our class, he said the same thing I had in mind on why he gives journal sometimes. Well, isn't that sort of weird? But cool?

This was only the beginning. The journey with my college life and professors still continue. :D

First Time Past Time

I like stories, whether it be a book or a movie, that are horror, mystery, suspense, or thriller. But for the first time in history, which happens to be both book and movie, it didn't appeal to me. It's the "Boogeyman!"

I like reading even though I have poor eyesight. It's fun and I learn things by doing so. However, the difference this time is that I read just for past time. And for your information, every time I hold this book, I haven't started to read yet, I always fall asleep. It's like it's draining my energy. Or if I am awake, I slowly become sleepy, and I fall asleep. I don't know how to rate it. I just read it because I don't have anything to read yet. But, I still understood the story and my favorite line, or should I say paragraph, is as follows:

"He had never much liked carnivals or thrill rides.
They relied too much on darkness for their scares.
He knew that for some people they provided nothing but a momentary fright,
an enjoyable frisson of unease that they looked forward to and were willing to pay money to experience."

As for the movie, as usual, there parts that have been skipped. Nonetheless, it was interpreted just like in the book. There are still some scenes that were altered or some sort.

There is another title that I always get interested though it's not scary despite the fact that it should as its title implies. It's the "Goosebumps!"

Of all the Goosebumps I have read, this 1997 published "How I Learned to Fly" is my favorite. Yes, it's has a fictional story, but as any other cartoons or animes can teach lessons, this goes like them. I like how the story ended. It really woke me up even though I already knew what was said there.

I am still looking everywhere to have a copy of this, but sad to say, there's none yet. When I do have a copy, I can lend it to you. :D

Another Sophomore Year

We encounter freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years twice: in high school and in college. Tomorrow, our first semester class for A.Y. 2011-2012 at LPU - Manila will officially start and I'm already done with my second freshman year. Tomorrow, I'll start the day of another sophomore year.

For me, just for me, I don't know to you and the others, college life is a lot like high school. Some subjects you encountered back in high school are still there, but there are additional more regarding the course you've taken. There are still challenges which are more difficult compare to high school because college level is where the life of an individual starts. High school level is just a preparation before facing college.

No matter what happens, whether we get high marks or fail, the important thing is that we learn. At times, we would also encounter failure. We won't always win. We will also lose. And it's better to encounter failure because you would know how it feels. It's part of life. Don't miss it. It will make you even more determined to achieve your goals because you will have in mind that you wouldn't want to feel that again. And even if you fail again, stand up. Always do your best and keep on trying. Learn from all the experiences that will come your way.

Bad Effect of What They Think As Something Good

Just recently I was watching a debate whether to pass the Divorce Bill or not. Surprisingly, as I was watching Mrs. Doubtfire, it was about divorce.

Robin Williams is the actor of the main character of this movie. This is a 1993 film that is two hour long. He was known more in Jumanji, Patch Adams, One Hour Photo, Robots, RV, Happy Feet, and Night at the Museum.

This movie talks about a man who felt so broken after his wife decided for them to get divorced. He cannot live without his children. As a result, he pretended to be an elderly women who applied for a care taker that his wife was looking for. It was quite easy for him to act with different voices because it comes from his job as a dubber man.

I was watching carefully waiting for the moment that the wife would cancel the divorce process so that they could be together again. But sad to say, it didn't.

All the seems-to-be-normal stuff like arguing about something, once married, is part of life. Maybe, it could somehow "injure" or damage the relationship. But divorce will also do the same, or even make the situation worse. In other words, it will destroy the bond that the marriage created. I saw that in the movie. At the end, although the woman decided to let his husband pick up his children to and from school, everything won't be the same. "At least" the children will still be able to see their father not once a week anymore. But look at how damaged it became. It's like they won't ever see their parents together again. At most, they would just stare at each other or something like that. Love is an important factor in a relationship and we should always take care of it. Before it's too late, let's always think before we act.

Change Takes Time

Debate* is an argument** that has a purpose to convince or persuade. This is conducted because people wish to persuade every one of their listeners to act upon suggestions, or accept the views they expressed. When used effectively, persuasion has the power to change people's convictions and behavior. It can move them to accept or reject new laws or proposals, elect or impeach government officials, revolutionize educational systems, or patronize certain products.

Yesterday, ABS-CBN (Alto Broadcasting System - Chronicle Broadcasting Network) conducted a debate through Harapan - Divorce Bill: Ipasa o Ibasura from 11 pm to approximately 1:30 am.

Philippines has encountered a lot of social issues: abortion, over population, RH Bill, and now the Divorce Bill.

They have said that our country is the one and only remaining country in the world that has no divorce law. Nothing is wrong with being different. Furthermore, not everything can be solved by passing a new law.

I like the speakers because they were able to deliver their thoughts very well. They came from different fields varying from lawyers to bishop to beauty queen to counselor to host, etc. One thing is for certain, they are all part of this community who has something to say regarding the issue whether divorce bill should be passed or not.

The program was formally conducted because it started with giving the background of the bill. The discussion was followed by the options. Lastly, the effects. It was ended by a minute message from each participant.

Certainly, the divorce bill, once passed, have advantages and disadvantages. No one can really tell if it would become easier compared to annulment or legal separation until it is used. I'm not quite sure if it would really be effective in our country even though pro's emphasized that it is Filipino style. And what would happen once it is passed? Change takes time and maybe, there is a possibility that it may worsen the condition of anyone involved.

In anyway, I am on the side of anti-divorce bill. We are all capable of thinking. We know that if marriage is the one being talked about, we should always remember that we have to take time to think carefully for the reason that we have to commit to the relationship if we say yes to our partner. And I have a comment to a speaker or speakers on the pro-divorce bill: not all kids or children would be happy if their parents get divorced. Time would come that they would ask, "Where's dad?" A part of them will always look for their father because growing up without one would make them feel incomplete.

It's a very sad reality that television's main purpose is to entertain. Shows like Harapan and other documentaries are being aired in midnight. News shows are aired only in the morning and during dinner. All the other shows are dramas, cartoons, and the likes. Some of those shows may be teaching stuffs to children, but basically, it's shown to entertain them. Some of them even contains violence which children see. All those shows that concern our society that we should be involved are aired less. Well, newspapers are still be very reliable. People just watch news on TV more often because they are driven to see pictures. But newspaper will continue to serve. We just have to take time to read.

The Bookmark

This small piece of paper has something written on it on the other side. I won't tell you what it is. All I can say is that it's from my crush and she doesn't know that I use this whenever I read. She's very cool, she's smart, she's beautiful. She rocks in her own way. :D

I have been consistently using this since high school since it very efficient. Its light weight and thinness makes my book still be in shape. The books I read don't open by itself because they do when I use large bookmarks.

That's all. Bow! XD

Justify

The 'Smaller and Smaller Circles' was published in U.P. This 'Lalaki sa Dilim' was published in Ateneo. Would I ever encounter a book published in Lyceum? Hehehe... XD

As the title suggests, the book contains violence because the story consists of rape, assault, and murder. Though I have already learned in the introduction that scenes or specific sentences will continuously be repeated, I still got tired of repeatedly reading them over and over again. But, it's noticeable that it's purpose is for emphasis.

I like the way the author divided each chapter. Whenever one chapter ends, the start of the next chapter is its continuation. Unlike in other books wherein each chapter goes to another scene. Here, every end of each chapter is somehow getting into action wherein you will know what happened next exactly at the beginning of the next chapter.

Well, although the end became tragic for Rafael's dad and wife, the story sort of ended happily. I didn't expect that because of the turn out of events. 'Acceptance,' the key word, was quite easy to Ligaya. Rafael, who carried strong will and 'courage' to tell Ligaya the truth, just followed because Ligaya was all he has left.

Rafael characterizes the traits of men: the like to drink, smoke, and women. But, because of the incoming wedding, he turned his back at those because he wants to live a peaceful life with Margarita, a married life. Sad to say, when his wife made a relationship with his best friend, he came back to his habits, except looking for women. He wants to save their marriage and relationship so he made a deal with Margarita to stay away from Nick. Nothing changed. So, he fell in more love with Ligaya because of what happened and because of her child.

When Rafael did something to Ligaya, on the night of his sag party, his conscience didn't let him sleep. It's just saying that there's still goodness in those bad people. It was their decision to be bad, but caring for others is still within them. Rafael gave Ligaya'sfamily fifty thousand pesos and healed her blindness.

Let's talk of the anime Inuyasha. Sesshomarou seems to be the bad guy, or maybe "is" the bad guy. But he cares for a human girl named Rin and doesn't let anything bad happen to her. Another is in the series Alias. Sydney's (played by Jennifer Garner) mother, is an antagonist. But despite of that fact, she still cares for her daughter, not letting her to be in danger or killed. There are many more, but this is the most recent that I remember.

Decision making is not easy. Once we made our choice, we have to stick to it and justify why we chose it. There might be a saying the "the end justifies the means," but please think very hard. Take your time. Your decision affects everyone around you, one way or another. Take note that something true to you may be false to others. Ask guidance from our Lord. Always pray in every moment, happiness or sadness. Everything happens for a reason, but be careful. One shouldn't just grabbed a sleeping woman and do what he desires to her. Respect others, their choices and anything about them. Take time to reflect.

Detective Stories Attract Me

The first detective anime that I got interested was Detective Conan. It's really awesome! The plot and the characters are unique. I like the way Haibara Ai acts and the way Suzuki Sonoko exaggerates. I admire Mouri Ran's karate capability and Kudou Shinichi's soccer expertise, whose parents are so cool together as a couple. They even know how to disguise very well. The 'Detective Boys', Professor Agasa and even the lazy Mouri Kogoro, as well as the 'men in black', and a lot more characters are distinguished from one another.

I remember back in third year high school, a classmate of mine called me 'Conan'. I asked him why he called me that, he said 'no reason at all.' Even though that's the case, I'm happy. It's only sometime that I am called by the name of my idol. All anime characters wearing eye glasses are sort of my idols because I'm wearing one as well. And somehow I find myself in their character. There are similarities, if not in traits, in physical appearance. Imagine, there have been so many people who said I look like him or him. Haha! In real life and in animes. :D

But Detective Conan is not what I'm here to analyze. It's Shinrei Tantei Yakumo. I finished watching it yesterday. I'm just creating a blog about it today.

Okay... so, what can I say? Well, it's also has a unique story. It revolves around Yakumo, a man who can see  dead people's spirits with his red left eye.

I really love the way Yakumo and Hakura treat each other. Their actions may look mean, but deep inside them, they care for each other. And whenever they see each other,  they look cute when quarreling. They deliver their thoughts in a funny way.  So, it's not really meant. It's just like joking to lighten the mood. XD

Well, I was able to relate in some way I won't go in detail. All I can say is that I cried whenever someone close to Yakumo or Haruka is in danger. I became sad when I learned that Uncle Isshin was in trouble (I won't give anything more. I won't spoil it.). He was so nice and he was always calm. I also admire Mr. Ishii's courage to change from being scaredy cat to a brave man who has reason to fight.

There are no scenes that made me bore. It's always giving me a reason to stay awake. The musical scoring is very appropriate to a particular moment. Sad moments are worth mentioning. You can really feel the emotion. I also like the opening song. I cannot wish for it to have more episodes. Though it's a mini-anime consisting of thirteen episodes, I'm already contented. It' worth watching because over-all, it's very good. Try it so that afterwards, we can talk about it. :D

After all these months...

At last! I was able to watch news on TV again. It's hard not being able to watch or read news most especially that I'm taking up mass communication. I won't mention the reason because it's personal. I won't deny that I also made a mistake. I admit that I am also at fault. But rest assured that I do my best to find ways to resolve the two problems, the cause and the effect.

I recently made a twitter account, as I have mentioned in my very first blog post. I found it interesting after my friends convinced me to make an account because I followed news accounts and whenever I open my account, I always see news posts. I just have to find the details.

Back to my successful viewing a while ago, I watch TV Patrol since I'm a Kapamilya (also a Kabarkada). I watched happily but suddenly, I said, "What's wrong with you people?" At first, I noticed Kabayan Noli de Castro having problems with delivering news. Mr. Ted Failon followed and Ms. Korina Sanchez didn't let herself be left behind. They may be well-known, but I think as time pass by, younger broadcast journalist will surely take their place. They are already getting old. But their influence will remain and continue.

I know that I'm taking up mass communication that specializes in broadcast communications. However, mass communication, or better yet communication arts, is a very good program because it takes up a larger scope. There will still be a chance that I may not end up as a reporter and if that's would be the case, I could be a journalist, advertiser, or public relation officer. Surely, I can still find jobs that are in relation with these because I studied them as well.

So, one of the news they mentioned is regarding the 'divorce bill' and said that there will be a detailed discussion about it this coming Sunday at 'Sunday's Best'. I have already marked my calendar and wrote it on my planner because I have to, I need to know what's happening in our society and become aware of it. Someday, I will also be the one informing news. Why not practice now? It's still early and I still have a lot of time to train. I'll make good use of that.

The Transition

Wait a minute! I noticed that the way I write my posts is not consistent. Some are in Filipino and some are in English. Let set the language English as the standard medium. Another, I think the way I deliver my ideas are not organized. Well, let's start to fix it. There's always a room for improvement.

Watch out for the next post and let's check if there will be improvements, shall we? :D

Another B.C.* (I think)

Well, it might not be a journalist, a writer or a photographer, but it's still included in the field of arts and sciences. This time, Bradley Cooper played as a lawyer in the movie "Yes Man."

It's a beautiful movie. I believe it's more of an appreciation of the things that you have and that will come to you.

I like the part when Jim Carrey sang "Jumper." Even the people from below sang with him when he was convincing a man to "step back from that ledge." It's a good song and he has a great voice. I laughed so hard, on the other hand,  when he and Zooey Deschanel were skeet shooting and it's the latter's turn. At first, she shot the ground. Then an assistant pointed the gun upwards. When Zooey was able to shot the disk, she happily faced the people around her with the gun following her eye direction, so every one ducked.

Watch it. It's fun. :D

6-in-1

This is a great Filipino English Novel about detectives on an investigation of a series of murders. As I finished reading it, I remembered Detective Conan, Shinrei Tantei Yakumo, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Supernatural, and Castle because of the way the protagonists of the story solves the mystery is similar to the methods in these animes and series. It's six stories placed together in one FILIPINO literature! It's really fantastic!

Well, I'm now a fan of Father Jerome Lucero. He's way too cool! And I see Thea Stilton, the sister of Geronimo Stilton, in Joanna Bonifacio. The way they call different versions of a name of someone they're calling or talking to.

I think you'll encounter the sentence "The rain has dwindled to a slight drizzle" three times. XD

I'm not quite sure if all the details about human bodies are correct, and I hope they are, because it's so fascinating when a writer has to research all that stuff to make the story better.

Furthermore, there's this scene where everyone is serious, and so is the moment, when, I quote, "The photographer stops. He brings the camera down to his chest, and stares into the freezer for a long time. Then, before the two priests can stop him, he runs screaming out of the apartment." I imagined this scenario in a comedic version. Hehe.. XD

And this is what I like most in books or written texts: when people talk about something which you will know later on. For instance, in this novel, Joanna and Leo are looking at the footage they have taken on a scene of a crime. Then, suddenly, they are talking "Stop there. Rewind it. Slow-mo." It's like, "Hey guys, what are you looking at? Can I see it? Please show me what you're seeing." It puzzled me pretty much. It got my attention.

I just don't think it's a good idea to put conversations of different language because I don't understand the words the characters were saying. You may say it was placed for us to search for its meaning, but for me, it quite made me bore a little.

"Smaller and Smaller Circles" is the title because as the investigations went on, the priests were able to locate the target, from general to specific.

(Characters:)

Father Augusto Saenz
Father Jerome Lucero
Father Emil
Joanna Bonifacio
Ading Rustia
Atty. Benjamin Arcinas

(Favorite Chapters/Lines:)
I won't reveal it. Just clues. You have to read it. :D

Thought before Chapter II
Chapter 4 - Second Paragraph (about GREEN! :D)
Chapter VI - Paragraph 3-7
Chapter XI - the whole of it (about the questioning)
Chapter XV - (about the tape)
Thought before Chapter XX

Three B.C.* (so far)

Bradley Cooper is a very good actor because he portrays each character he plays at an amazing level. I have watched him in the following:
1. Alias as Will Tippin, a journalist in a local Los Angeles newspaper;
2. Limitless as Eddie Morra, a writer who discovers a top-secret drug which bestows him with super human abilities; and in
3. The Midnight Meat Train as Leon, a New York photographer who hunts down a serial killer.

Of course I have watched his other movies, but this three made it to my list because it's all related to Mass Communication. His the only actor I know who have acted more in this field and I don't know if there are others. Probably there are, but there are so many actors and actresses in the world to know. XD

Moreover, I don't know yet if he has more films like this and I hope he has. :D

In Alias, he was like a clown that you'll laugh at him. What I mean is he's fun to be with. In limitless, at first he wore long hair and smoked (which I personally don't like) and after taking "the" drug, he seemed so professional. Last but not the least, in The Midnight Meat Train, he was courageous to face the enemy in the end.

"What interests you?"
"The city."
"Why?"
"Because no one has ever captured it, not the way it really is, the heart of it. That's my goal, that's my dream."
"Next time you fall into the heart of the city, stay put, be brave, keep shooting."
-conversation from The Midnight Meat Train

Well, this means that I love watching! Really! Haha! :D

Talk and Talk*

I just got home from SM Molino. I had an appointment regarding my business. After that, I bought a book. Then, played basketball at Tom's World. I cooled myself down from the exercise by listening to a talk in the event center of the mall. And yeah- as early as 10:40 am. Though I just listened on the second floor for ten minutes- 10:50-11:00 am.

The topic was about "Biofuel: The green fuel of the future." The speaker was from the Department of Energy. He asked "Why do I save energy?" to the audience and gave pink belt bag to those who answered. After that, the question was "Are you W.I.S.E?" W.I.S.E., meaning Wise Intelligent Saver of Energy. Followed by it is a discussion of the reasons why we should save energy.
1. To protect the environment
2. Reduce the oil importation
3. It concerns the future generation
4. To save money

Greenhouse effects was encountered along the way. I was happy because I was able to answer "What causes the global warming?" and "Where does the carbon dioxide come from?" It means I still remember the discussion I had in class back  in first semester and last April. Then, a question came into my mind: What way would you suggest to reduce the use of energy or save it now that car users are rising up here in the Philippines? I got surprised when the speaker said that if anyone has a question, raise it. I think a maintenance at the mall, because of his uniform, asked a question. He's active in "Class." He also had a pink belt bag. The speaker gave him a GREEN shirt after his question! Aaaahhh! GREEN! Anyway, he said that the answer to his question, which I didn't quite understand, will be discussed along the discussion and continued on to some ways on how to save energy, but not exactly the answer I was thinking for my question.

I don't really know how I felt for not asking the question. But, I am fine with it. It's just so sad to notice that the audience consist of adults. You won't see any teenager on the seats. All would just pass by and stop for a moment, then leave. I still like the talk because it's conducted in the morning, and I'm happy to see those people who sat there, listening for that while and not yet roaming around. I hope the event center personnels do that every now and then to educate and inform the people of somethings that concern us in our surrounding.

Killing Spree*

There's a series of murder on a wedding party for one week and you're stuck with just one killer, eliminating members of your group whenever possible. But you later discover that he has an accomplice running and hiding with you, even helping. What would you do?

Who's like me who loves to watch horror and mystery? I recommend "Harper's Island"!

Well, what can I say? It's full of twists and turns. It's like 'Survivor.' There's this part in the series where Trish and her dad was pursued by a dog and I really freaked out. Dogs don't like me, so I don't like them. I almost jumped from the sofa. They just went from "an accident" in the woods and then when you meet a person to ask for help, all he gives is a dog on the loose? And when you thought it was all over, when Danny was playing cards with the creepy Madison- yeah, she's creepy; want to check her out?- and they were having fun, it was so startling when the serial killer just grabbed Danny in his neck with a belt. Now, I don't really like to live in an island. Not that I cannot live. I can. It's just that I'm not comfortable with all woods around you, even though I love the color green, and you are away from the main land.

But in the end, I got happy because Abby and Jimmy ended up together. I like them as couple. Haha! I had been waiting for each episode whether Jimmy will be able to survive and yes, he did! Until the end. Abby was like, untouchable. So, don't worry about her. :D

I also have other favorite scenarios. One is when Richard was harpooned when he was outside talking to somebody over the phone. You will think that his daughter witnessed what happened because you can see her in the window of her room. Sad to say, but it's still funny, because what she saw was dirt on her face because she's in front of a mirror in front of the window. Cool, huh? The other scene is when Chloe acted as a girlfriend of a local guy because he found the ring of Cal, which he would have used to propose to her but got lost days ago, and used it to propose to his girlfriend. Chloe slapped the guy real hard, and his girlfriend bought the acting and threw the ring, so Cal looked for it. When he got it, they ran towards the door laughing. Hahaha! XD

After watching the special episodes 'Solved' and 'Unsolved', filming is proven not to be easy. You have to go in places for locations that is appropriate for the scene. Also, creating props for decapitated and torn-into-two bodies, head, skull, and designing a set takes a lot of time. But it was worth it because it turned out to be really creepy, exciting, suspenseful. You really have to see into each character to know, or guess, who the killer/s are because the cast were able to portray the desired people involved in the story.

Trivia:
The titles for each episode are an onomatopoeia alluding to the method of murder used by the killer in that particular episode.

Literaturang Filipino

Nagwagi ng Palanca Memorial Award* for Literature 1983-84

It's fun. You'll find them interesting.

(Notable Ideas and Conversations:)

Lea: Ang achievement e something you work hard to attain.

"Masama 'yong negatibo ka mag-isip. Kung ang iniisip lagi ng Amerika e lulubusin siya ng Rusya, at iniisip lagi ni Rusya na lulubusin siya ng Amerika, maglulubusan na 'yan.Samakatuwid, magkakagiyera. Ano'ng dahilan? Masama silang mag-isip."

Elinor: Ngumiti ka naman, o!
Lea: Hindi naiuutos 'yon. Gagawin niya 'yon pag gusto niya.

Maya: Nanay, naiisip ko, lugi ang babae.
Lea: Lugi?
Maya: Oo, lugi. Ang babae, pag me asawa, Misis.Pag wala, Mis. 'Ala siyang lihim!

"Ojie, alam mo ba 'yang gianagawa mong 'yan?

"Bata, bata... pa'no ka ginawa? Hindi bigla kundi unti-unti, tulad sa lahat ng normal na proseso ng paglaki."

"Ang graduation samakatuwid, ay hindi pagtatapos kundi simula. Simula ng pagpasok sa bagong yugto ng buhay papunta sa iba pang yugto."

The Beginning

Mukhang masaya 'to! Marami rin akong pwedeng gawin dito. And, as a mass comm. student, I should practice my skills. I have been news writer, then a news editor back in high school. I was able to use what I've learned in some subjects I have already taken, at may mga natutunan ulit ako. Kaya I've decided to be more observative. Maraming maaaring mangyari sa Maynila. And if ever I witness or notice one, I will publish a reaction here, both factual and opinionated. Maglalagay rin ako ng mga book and movie reviews and the likes. I want to make use of this blog as a way for some kind of journal... na halu-halo.

Kapapasok lang ng June 2011 and I think this will be a good start. It's a new beginning. :D
